15 February, 2012OFFICINE PANERAI: “MASTERS OF THE SEA. THE ART OF NAVIGATION IN ITALY, A STORY OF EXCELLENCE"
From the collaboration between Officine Panerai and the Fondazione Cologni comes the new book in the editorial series “Mestieri d’Arte”, published by Marsilio Editori. Written by professor Luana Carcano of the University Bocconi and illustrated by Victor Togliani, “Maestri del mare. La nautica italiana, una storia de eccellenza” (Masters of the sea: The art of navigation in Italy, a story of excellence) is a passionate account of how the internationally recognised Italian leadership in yacht building was founded on design and style as well as on the skilled craftsmanship and values of a strong sea-faring culture. Destined for sea-lovers, the book presents extraordinary testimonies from some legendary names that have shaped the history of sailing. It sheds light on the elements of Italian excellence and distinction, the meaning of “craftsmanship” in today’s nautical world, and the ways in which the culture, that extraordinary heritage of knowledge and values, can be protected and passed down.
