LUMINOR MARINA 1950 SOFTBANK TEAM JAPAN 3 DAYS AUTOMATIC ACCIAIO – 44mm SOFTBANK TEAM JAPAN OFFICIAL WATCH On the occasion of the qualifying races for the 2017 America’s Cup, Officine Panerai is dedicating to SOFTBANK TEAM JAPAN one of the watches most sought after by enthusiasts of high quality sports watchmaking: a Special Edition of the Luminor Marina 1950 SOFTBANK TEAM JAPAN 3 Days Automatic, of which only 150 units will be made. The Official Watch of SOFTBANK TEAM JAPAN combines in a masterly way the most iconic elements of the Panerai aesthetic with details paying tribute to the team led by the internationally famous skipper Dean Barker. The sandwich-structure dial is black and, even in little or no light, its indications can be read with exemplary clarity, thanks to the large luminous linear hour markers and figures. The date window is at 3 o’clock while the small seconds counter is positioned symmetrically at 9 o’clock. The blue in which the inscription AMERICA’S CUP is printed at 6 o’clock is immediately reminiscent of the colours of the prestigious competition’s logo, combined with the red of the seconds hand and the white of the other markings on the dial. The solid steel screw back carries the official logo of SOFTBANK TEAM JAPAN and a drawing of the yacht. The movement of the Luminor Marina 1950 SOFTBANK TEAM JAPAN 3 Days Automatic is the automatic P.9010 with a power reserve of three days, entirely made in the Panerai Manufacture at Neuchâtel. The black leather strap of the Luminor Marina 1950 SOFTBANK TEAM JAPAN 3 Days Automatic (PAM00732) also pays tribute to the SOFTBANK TEAM JAPAN: as well as having the logo of the America’s Cup heat-embossed on both sides, it has contrasting stitching in red and white, the colours of the Japanese flag.

Panerai watches are produced to very high standards of quality. It is worth remembering that the mechanical parts run 24 hours a day when used, so the watch must undergo regular maintenance to ensure long life and good operation.

Have watch checked periodically for water-resistance by an Authorized Panerai Service Centre and renovate it every two years with regular servicing, or whenever the watch has to be opened. The restoration of water-resistance necessarily involves replacing the seals in order to ensure the maximum water resistance and protection. Where the watch is used in underwater sports activities, it is recommended that it should be checked every year before the underwater activities begin.

Have the movement of watch checked periodically by an Authorized Panerai Service Centre in order to preserve its perfect operation. If the watch has a tendency to gain or lose time to a significant degree, the movement may need to be overhauled. The movements are designed to withstand temperature variations between -10°C and +60°C (14°F and 140°F). Outside this range of temperatures, operational variations exceeding those set out in the specifications of the movement may be noticed. In addition, there is a risk that the lubricants contained in the movement may deteriorate, resulting in damage to some of its parts.

To keep the exterior in perfect condition, we recommend washing Panerai watch with soap and warm water, using a soft brush. After this operation, and also after immersion in the sea or a swimming pool, carefully rinse the watch with fresh water. All Panerai watches can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth.

Panerai straps must be washed in warm water and left to dry. It is important not to dry them on a hot surface or expose them to direct sunlight, because the rapid evaporation of the water could damage their shape and quality. After each immersion in the sea or a swimming pool, carefully rinse the strap with fresh water. It is recommended that the strap and the buckle should be replaced by an Authorized Distributor or a Panerai Service Centre, in order to avoid any problems caused by incorrect replacement. Only an Authorized Distributor or Panerai Service Centre can guarantee the use of genuine Panerai straps, properly designed to fit the dimensions of the case and manufactured according to the quality standards of the brand. All alligator leather used by Officine Panerai comes from farms in Louisiana, USA. Officine Panerai’s suppliers have committed to the highest standard of responsibility and have given their assurance that such farms in Louisiana contribute to the stable growth of wild alligators, thus protecting this endangered species. Panerai does not use leather coming from endangered species taken from the wild.

P.9010 calibre

The automatic P.9010 calibre, entirely developed and created in the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, has central hour and minute hands, the small seconds dial at 9 o’clock and the date at 3 o’clock. The energy necessary to accumulate a power reserve of three days – the basic standard for Panerai in-house movements – is stored in two spring barrels whose springs are wound by an oscillating weight operating in both directions. Consisting of 200 components including 31 jewels, the calibre has a diameter of 13¾ lignes and it is 6 mm thick. The balance, fixed by a bridge with twin supports, oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). It is associated with the device which stops it as soon as the winding crown is pulled out, enabling the watch to be perfectly synchronised with a reference signal. In the P.9010 calibre the hours can be conveniently adjusted without interfering with the movement of the minute hand, thanks to the device which directly moves only the relative hand in jumps of one hour forward or backwards. This function is very useful when changing time zones or moving between summer time and winter time, and conveniently the adjustment of the hour hand is automatically connected to the date indicator.
