The Musée d’Orsay, sponsored by Officine Panerai and under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Culture, is devoting its next exhibition “Dolce Vita? From the Liberty to Italian Design” (Paris, 14 April to 13 September 2015) to Italian art and design from 1900 to 1940. This exhibition will be a superb complement to the World’s Fair Expo 2015, taking place in Milan.

The decade which ended in 1940 left as its legacy a new concept of modernism and elegance. The lightness which was characteristic of the 1920s was replaced by a new craving for sobriety and precision. Worldliness and frivolity were transformed into simplicity and a return to authentic values.

The 1940s were also the period of the first iconic masters of Italian design. Creative geniuses such as Giò Ponti, Pininfarina and Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, together with enterprises including Olivetti, Fiat and Alfa Romeo, disseminated a thriving spirit of invention throughout the world. It was the international triumph of Made in Italy. In this spirit, enshrined in the exhibition “Dolce Vita? From the Liberty to Italian Design”, the support by Officine Panerai finds its natural place.

Simplicity of design, celebrated in the exhibition “Dolce Vita? From the Liberty to Italian Design”, gives birth to forms of uncompromising, timeless modernity, in the purest Italian style: again the link between Panerai and the world of design is apparent and immediate.
