RADIOMIR 1940, GREATNESS BEYOND TIME.
"The Radiomir 1940 is an evolution and also a substantial development of the first Radiomir series. In response to the very strict requirements expressed by the Royal Italian Navy, the watch was strengthened to become even more resistant under extreme conditions. The first change was the increase of the thickness of the case so that the lugs could be formed directly from the same steel block of the case. The wire loop strap attachments were replaced by an extremely solid monobloc construction. "
AISI 316L STAINLESS STEEL
"AISI 316L 1.4435 stainless steel is Officine Panerai’s material par excellence since it is highly resistant to corrosion and is hypoallergenic, making it ideal for contact with the skin. The Panerai watches created for the Italian Navy were made of austenitic stainless steel, a reliable material that was also resistant to the extreme environmental conditions in which the commandos operated."
The P.4001 calibre is an automatic movement completely developed and made in the Panerai Manufacture at Neuchâtel and it was designed and conceived from the P.4000. Its main features are: the off-centre micro rotor which rotates in both directions, the power reserve of three days stored in two spring barrels linked in series, the mechanism for stopping the balance, enabling the time to be set with absolute precision and the full balance bridge with twin supports for greater stability. The calibre also have some extremely useful additional functions: the date, the GMT function with a central hand which indicates the time in a second time zone, am/pm indication (relative to home time) in the small seconds dial and, finally, indication of the remaining power reserve on a bridge of the movement.Discover calibre
Panerai watches are produced to very high standards of quality. It is worth remembering that the mechanical parts run 24 hours a day when used, so the watch must undergo regular maintenance to ensure long life and good operation.
