Panerai commitment to innovation and technical expertise set the stage to innovative and high-tech materials,
enhanced every year through the research and development of the Laboratorio di Idee within the Manufacture in Neuchâtel.
Afniotech™ debut, First-ever in watchmaking
A pioneering material, whose high content of hafnium - more than 95% - marks a true first for the watchmaking industry. Hafnium is a rare metal found in small concentrations within zirconium ores and valued for its density, strength, and exceptional corrosion resistance. Its ability to absorb neutrons allows it to shield and regulate radiation, making it essential in nuclear reactors as well as in aeronautics, satellites and other advanced industries.

Titanium strength, Forged for performance.
Forged titanium is created by bonding two titanium grades under heat and pressure with a forging hammer. Inspired by traditional metalworking and refined through modern materials science, the process reveals natural wave-like layers across the case. Each pattern varies, giving every watch a distinct appearance reminiscent of sea currents and mineral strata.
