Panerai presents “The Depths of Time”

a legacy unveiled

On September 10th, Panerai presented "The Depths of Time," a historical exhibition running from September 10th through the end of November at its iconic Florence Flagship Store, in the Maison's city of origin. Emmanuel Perrin, CEO of Panerai, welcomed VIP clients, and Italian and International editors to discover the exhibition through a curated guided tour, followed by a cocktail and an elegant dinner.

From September 10th until the end of November, visitors can discover the untold story of a brand that evolved from a secret supplier to the Italian Navy into a world-renowned watchmaker. This exhibition marks the moment Panerai unveiled its first two prototypes to the civilian public, signaling the end of its military secret and the beginning of its ascent as an international watchmaking leader.

As a tribute to the Maison’s rich heritage, the Exhibition offers a behind-the-scenes look at the genesis of the brand's distinctive features. Never-before-seen archival materials will be on display, including personal correspondence between the Panerai family and the Marina Militare, technical drawings, early catalogs, and original historical photographs. Visitors can also examine instruments like compasses and depth gauges, alongside historical watches and patent reproductions, to understand firsthand how Panerai’s groundbreaking work in luminosity, underwater readability, and instrument design has shaped its emblematic design. Following its debut in Florence, the exhibition will travel to the US and China as part of a global tour.

The brand's commitment to its unique military history is further showcased by the launch of the new Luminor Marina Militare PAM05218, featuring an all-black 44mm steel DLC case and non-matching dial and hands – an unintentional anomaly that made the original pieces rare and highly sought-after by collectors. Clients and journalists will have the opportunity to be the first to experience the vintage appeal of this faithful homage to the Luminor ref. 5218-202/A, originally designed for the Italian Navy and launched in 1993 after the initial civilian models - Luminor ref. 5218-201/A and Mare Nostrum 5218-301/A.
