“I often find myself in impossible terrain, and my gear must become part of what keeps me moving – time, direction, and something to rely on when every choice matters. I will always remember the incident on the K2 mountain. Bad weather forced me to turn back before the summit. During the descent, I ran out of pitons and couldn’t secure my rope. So I took off my Panerai and pushed it into a crack. Then I put a rope around the watch, and it became my point of anchorage.
