Panerai welcomes award-winning underwater photographer Rafael Fernández Caballero as a new Field Prover
Panerai is pleased to announce that renowned underwater photographer Rafael Fernández Caballero has joined its global community of Field Provers: explorers, athletes, and professionals chosen to rigorously test the Maison's watches in the most demanding real-world conditions, where performance is truly measured through experience.
Highly skilled, Fernández is celebrated as a leading voice in contemporary underwater photography. With a background as both an engineer and a professional diver and instructor, his career is deeply rooted in the ocean. His international acclaim includes the prestigious Ocean Photographer of the Year 2024 award.
Submersible watches – Panerai’s professional diving instruments – are set to become his essential companions, proving their mettle exactly where they were designed to perform: in the field, beneath the surface, and exposed to the rigors of genuine marine exploration. Panerai will proudly support Rafael on his expeditions to some of the planet's most remote and challenging locations. From the icy depths of Antarctica to distant ocean territories, these environments demand unparalleled reliability, robustness, luminosity, and precision from his gear.
His inaugural expedition with the Panerai Submersible PAM02683 recently took him to Antarctica, one of Earth's most extreme and least accessible regions. There, amidst freezing waters and dynamic light, the watch seamlessly integrated into his diving equipment, proving itself a vital and functional partner in exploration.
