The Luminor 31 Giorni PAM01631 is a landmark milestone in Panerai’s pursuit of extended autonomy. For the first time, the Maison introduces a watch capable of running for an entire month on a single wind, pushing beyond the limits once defined by its celebrated 8 Giorni and later 10 Giorni movements. This continues a legacy shaped by Panerai’s early instruments developed for the Italian Navy, where reliability and long-lasting performance were essential during missions. A pillar that finds its most advanced expression through the work of Panerai’s Laboratorio di Idee, where seven years of research and development resulted in the new P.2031/S hand-wound skeleton calibre with an unprecedented power reserve length enclosed within a 44 mm Goldtech™ Luminor case.

From one week to a month

Early instruments supplied to the Italian Navy required autonomy and reliability during prolonged missions, where daily winding was not always practical. This led to Panerai's adoption of long-running movements such as the historic Angelus 8-day calibre. Later, Panerai continued this pursuit with in-house developments like the P.2002 and P.2003 and today, a new milestone - 31-day power reserve.

Laboratorio di Idee

31 Days challenge

Developed over 7 years by Panerai’s Laboratorio di Idee, the 31-day power reserve required a rethink of energy management within the movement. The challenge was to achieve unprecedented autonomy while preserving stability, legibility, and ease of use. The result is a movement that balances technical ambition with Panerai’s unwavering focus on robust, functional watchmaking.

4 barrels, 3.3 m mainsprings

P.2031/S: skeletonized power

At the heart of the watch is the new P.2031/S hand-wound skeleton movement, delivering a 31-day power reserve through four barrels in series containing 3.3 metres of mainsprings. Composed of 276 components and 25 jewels, the calibre offers efficient energy distribution and reliable performance, requiring just 128 turns of the crown to power an entire month.

Torque limiter, spring geometry

31 Days of precision

The movement incorporates three patented solutions that support long-term precision and reliability: a torque limiter selecting the optimal 31 days from a 36-day reserve, a patented spring geometry system, and a jumping hour mechanism that allows quick time adjustments without affecting minutes or seconds.

Torque Limiter & Automatic stop systems

The torque limiter, together with the automatic stop, enables the new P.2031/S calibre to utilize the 31 most chronometrically stable days from its potential 36-day power reserve, which is delivered by its four barrels.
By controling excessive torque when fuly wound and stopping the movement after 31 days, they preserve chronometric stability and protect the movement over time.

Polarized date

The polarized date display preserves the visual openness of the movement while ensuring the date remains clear and easy to read. The date disc interacts with polarized light so that the numerals appear only through the dedicated aperture at 3 o’clock. Everywhere else, the disc remains invisible to the eye, allowing the mechanics of the movement to remain fully visible without interruption.
