Love for the sea, excellence, technical innovation and determination are just some of the qualities that connect Panerai and Luna Rossa, two partners willing to devise visionary tools, inspired by technologies and materials used in the America’s Cup, and focused on changing the rules of the game.
All the new Panerai Luna Rossa watches, perfect instruments for life at sea, will be worn by the members of the Luna Rossa Sailing Team headed by Massimiliano “Max” Sirena. That is why Panerai has created models specially equipped with features designed for yacht racing, from the regatta countdown to the flyback chronograph and the GMT, which can be set to the Auckland time zone during the New Zealand regattas.
On the occasion of the 36th America’s Cup, Panerai conceived four unique timepieces that perfectly embody the highest standards of futuristic mechanical craftsmanship: the new Luminor Luna Rossa GMT – 44mm (PAM1036), the Luminor Rossa Chrono Flyback – 44mm (PAM1037), the Luminor Luna Rossa Regatta – 47mm (PAM1038) and the Submersible Luna Rossa – 47mm (PAM1039), all united by a new color palette initiated by Luna Rossa.
All the models, characterized by a high degree of sophistication, distinguish themselves with unprecedented design, revolutionary mechanics and cutting-edge materials, such as titanium, a metal with unrivaled lightness and corrosion resistance, and Carbotech, which is based on carbon fiber and also used to build the AC75 monohull, an image of which is engraved on the titanium caseback of the Submersible Luna Rossa – 47 mm, along with the Luna Rossa logo and the America’s Cup profile.
On the mechanical front, the same exacting level of technological innovation dedicated to materials is evident in the range of movements, a tangible technical achievement of the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. In each movement, complexity is translated into practicality, in complete service to function. These models offer automatic winding and a power reserve of three days, specially conceived to reaffirm and, through their respective complications, to emphasize the ancestral, mutual relationship with the world of the sea that is shared by Panerai and Luna Rossa.
