Panerai will offer on auction three unique timepieces to celebrate the First Anniversary of the new Bond Street Boutique

London, NOVEMBER 1ST,  2018 – To celebrate the first anniversary of the Panerai’s  only boutique in the UK, the Florentine luxury sports watchmaker presents a sale of three unique timepieces in partnership with Sotheby’s.

Leading the sale is an exclusive un-numbered pre-exemplar for the yet-to-be-released Lab-ID, a revolutionary watch that demonstrates the ability of Panerai’s Laboratorio di Idee to innovate. Thanks to a brilliant development tapping into the infinite potential of carbon, this creation has a case with exceptional characteristics and properties, a completely new deep black dial covered with carbon nanotubes and the semi-skeletonised P.3001/C movement, Only 50 timepieces of the final LAB-IDTM have been created, and these will be guaranteed for 50 years.

Also on offer is one of Panerai’s rarest, most highly coveted timepieces: an exceptional re-edition of the historical Mare Nostrum, in a unique version with titanium case, green dial and blue hands. The chronograph – the first ever created by Panerai - was developed in the 1940’s for Italian Naval officers but, due to World War II, never made it into production.

Closing the sale is an exceptional riff on the Radiomir Firenze, one of Panerai’s most emblematic models. This example is distinguished from the eventual retail model by the rare ‘California’ dial and features a matte brushed-steel case, enriched by exceptional hand-made engravings inspired by Florentine iconography.

“We are thrilled to offer these unique pieces in auction - says Jean-Marc Pontroué, Panerai CEO - our R&D team works relentlessly to design and create new models that encompass the history of our brand with a determined look towards the future. With this special auction we are aiming to satisfy clients who look to differentiate themselves and value the utmost exclusivity. Sotheby’s is the perfect partner to amplify this new initiative and we look forward to meeting these clients to introduce them to the world of Panerai”.

The online-only auction will be open for bidding from 12 to 19 November with the watches on view in the Sotheby’s New Bond Street galleries from 12 to 14 November.
