Long Power Reserve

Long Power Reserve

Panerai brings to light a new mechanical value, enhancing the Manufacture heritage & know-how: a new timepiece with 10 Days of power reserve, enriching the Luminor Complicazioni line.
The long power reserve was introduced to meet the strict requirements of the commandos of the Italian Navy who had to rely on an instrument of complete and enduring reliability.
In the early 1960s, Panerai used a 16-ligne Angelus calibre, which would run for eight days.
The long power reserve is one of Panerai’s most distinctive features that significantly reduced the mis manipulation on the crown as the watch needed to rewound only one per week.

Black ceramic case

Black ceramic case

The ceramic used by Panerai is a synthetic ceramic based on Zirconium Oxide powder.
Through a complex series of working and finishing operations, it acquires a particularly even matt finish and provides the characteristics of hardness (up to five times harder than stainless steel) as well as good resistance to scratches, corrosive agents, and high temperatures.

Luminor Case

Luminor Case

The Luminor case is inspired by historic models from the ‘60s.
The case name comes from the ‘Luminor’ self-luminous substance historically patented in 1949.
Only in the ’90s was this name utilized to identify the distinctive case design.
The watch is characterized by the emblematic crown-protecting device with lever, “REG. T.M.”, registered trademark engraved upon it.

GMT Function

GMT Function

The GMT function allows the reading of local time and a second time zone on a single watch.
GMT is short for Greenwich Mean Time, the time at the Greenwich Royal Observatory, which is the universal reference point for calculating time zones.
The linear power reserve on the dial, that indicates 10 Days of power reserve, together with the GMT arrow in orange, gives the watch a distinctive look.
