This year, the legendary Eilean ketch marks its 90th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, it makes its return to the classic regatta circuit for the 2026 season, solidifying the Maison's enduring legacy in the sailing world, begun in 2000 with the sponsorship of the Laureus Regatta Panerai Trophy.

Crafted in 1936 by the renowned Scottish shipyard Fife of Fairlie, the 22-meter Bermudian boat was rediscovered in a deteriorated state in Antigua in 2006. Recognizing her potential, Panerai embarked on an ambitious journey to restore her to her former glory. By 2009, Eilean was relaunched, her distinctive lines and historical materials carefully preserved to showcase her original splendour.

Today, Eilean sails once again, a symbol of Panerai's maritime heritage and bond with the sea. With the Maison, she graces the waters capturing the hearts of sea lovers and watch aficionados worldwide.

Eilean’s waterlines and Bermudian ketch sail plan are the starring elements of her aesthetics.
Her two masts hold a triangular sail, and her composite structure features Burmese teak planking supported by a zinc-plated metal skeleton.
Her elegant design has sailed the Atlantic 36 times and even appeared in Duran Duran's 'Rio' video.

Restoration

Over two and a half years, craftsmen at the Francesco Del Carlo boatyard restored Eilean to its grandeur.
The hull’s original Burmese teak planking was salvaged, and the zinc-plated metal framework was preserved.
Fife’s iconic dragons were carved back onto the hull, while original features like the teak cockpit and bronze gear were precisely revived.

Tour

Eilean’s 2026 Tour is commencing in Viareggio on May 15, with the official ship launch at Cantiere del Carlo - the renowned Italian shipyard specializing in the construction and restoration of classic wooden yachts. From there, Eilean starts traveling across the Mediterranean Sea, via the French Riviera, Italy, and Spain, before concluding its journey in Cannes. Throughout this elegant voyage, guests will be welcomed aboard to immerse themselves in Panerai's exceptional collection and the spirit of the Maison's celebrated maritime heritage.

Classic Regattas

On the occasion of its 90th anniversary, Eilean returns to the classic regatta circuit. Panerai guests will have the unique opportunity to experience the thrill of these regattas aboard the boat. The racing calendar begins with the 30th Edition of Les Voiles d'Antibes (Antibes, 27-31 May 2026), marking the opening of the Mediterranean circuit for vintage and classic yachts. The series then continues in Italy with the Argentario Sailing Week (Porto Santo Stefano, 24–28 June 2026), before heading to Spain for the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona (Barcelona, 8–11 July 2026). The XXXI Regata Illes Balears Clàssics (Palma de Mallorca, 11–15 August) then closes the summer season, while the program comes full circle in France with Les Régates Royales de Cannes (Cannes, 20–27 September 2026).
