Calf Straps

Calf leather is one of the most exclusive and versatile of all materials used in the watch industry. Officine Panerai’s wide offers ranges from sportive calfskin – with uncompromising technical features and an exceptional surface eveness - to traditional natural leathers with deliberately unaltered surface that underline their originality.

 

The leathers used by Officine Panerai have natural surface structures that are accentuated by additional processing, refining and finishing done by hand by expert artisans.

 

Given the individuality of these materials, each has its own specific colour shade and surface quality so that each piece is one of a kind, a treasured and coveted unique item.

 

During the production, the leathers can be treated in three different ways: tanning, dyeing and finishing. The processes are aimed at providing resistance against external influences and at giving to the leather the final aesthetic appearance.

 

Leather straps usually have a “remborde” padding which is the inside of the strap that gives the threedimensional shape. 

 

Natural leather straps, such as the Assolutamente and the Ponte Vecchio are characterized - depending on the models - by the so-called “Vintage padding”, inspired by the original models from the past. 

 

The strap is formed by a single layer of leather, which is folded down on itself and sewn by hands.

 

The Officine Panerai calf leather straps are offered in a wide choice of finishing and colours, making themsuitable for all the occasions.

PONTE VECCHIO

PONTE VECCHIO

Ponte Vecchio is a calf leather processed using traditional Italian tanning artistry. This leather develops wearing-specific surface deviations. It thus becomes an individual “dress” for the watch it adorns.

 

The material is also characterized by a so-called “pull-up” effect: variable colour shades when the material is bent. Ponte Vecchio comes completely pure and natural, without any additional lacquer finish. Therefore,the leather is soft and feels nicely supple.
 

Usage 

The durability of the straps depends on individual wearing conditions. Due to the special finishing of the strap, the surface may change in contact with water.

 

ASSOLUTAMENTE

ASSOLUTAMENTE

The Assolutamente calf is a leather processed in traditional Italian tanning artistry. The material is characterized by a so-called “pull-up” effect: variable colour shades when the material is bent and it develops wearing-specific surface deviations. It thus becomes a unique strap for the watch it adorns. The Assolutamente strap comes completely pure and natural, without any additional lacquer finish and the leather’s surface is soft and smooth and has an oily touch. The Assolutamente and the Assolutamente Vintage straps are not suitable for swimming or diving.

CASHMERE

CASHMERE

“Cashmere” is a semi-matte look leather, obtained through a special treatment, called milling, during which the leather fibers are loosened up and made flexible. This treatment improves the naturalness of the material, the wearing comfort of the bracelet and positively influences the leather in terms of softness and flexibility. 

 

Usage
The durability of the straps depends on individual wearing conditions. The leather strap can be cleaned with warm water.

FIRENZE

FIRENZE

Firenze is an especially natural, Italian calf leather that is made durable by means of plant extracts and has fibres deeply dyed in the barrel. The remarkable look is furthermore emphasized by an intense surface grain which characterizes this leather as a symbol for Artisan Leathers.

BUFFALO

BUFFALO

The Buffalo is a velvety soft and smooth strap, coming from Water Buffalo leather, which is tanned with the help of mineral salts and aniline dyed, giving the leather a beautiful colour. Further characteristics of this material are the typically natural 3D-grain structure and the semi-matte surface which additionally underline its velvety appearance in look.

MONTE CARLO/RUGBY

MONTE CARLO/RUGBY

Monte Carlo/Rugby is a smooth and minerally tanned leather, characterized by a discreet grain and an even surface texture. For the production of these straps, the leather is covered by a protective coating to improve the quality of the material in terms of resistance against rubbing and even scratching.
