Panerai and Luna Rossa celebrate triumphant start at Cagliari Preliminary Regatta
The 38th America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta in Cagliari has concluded with a resounding victory for Luna Rossa, marking an ambitious launch for their 'Road to Naples 2027'. This thrilling event also heralded the official commencement of Panerai’s journey with the Luna Rossa Team, celebrating a shared commitment to performance, innovation, and the enduring spirit of professional sailing.
From May 21st to 24th 2026, Cagliari's evocative Bay of Angels provided a magnificent backdrop for this inaugural regatta. This pivotal first stop on the 'Road to Naples' saw a fleet of 8 perfectly equalized AC40 yachts engage in intense fleet races, culminating in a final match race. Luna Rossa's senior team, expertly led by Peter Burling, showcased superior tactical acumen to decisively defeat Emirates Team New Zealand, thereby securing significant momentum in this America’s Cup cycle. Notably, Luna Rossa's Women & Youth team also delivered a remarkable performance in the fleet races, despite facing challenges that ultimately prevented their progression to the final.
As a brand deeply intertwined with the world of sailing, Panerai leveraged this occasion to host an exclusive gathering of selected journalists and VICs. Guests had the unique opportunity to meet the Luna Rossa team and witness the high-stakes regattas directly from the water. This activation powerfully underscored Panerai's core values: performance and the relentless pushing of boundaries, both central to the design of its contemporary timepieces.
Attention now eagerly shifts to the second 38th America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta, scheduled to take place in Naples from September 24th to 27th 2026.
