Luminor Destro watch

Luminor Destro

A tribute to the historic timepieces worn during heroic missions.
This watch finds its roots in Panerai’s history, when the Maison supplied the Italian Navy frogmen with essential navigational instruments on their left wrist, and a distinctive Panerai watch on the right.
The first left-handed watch appeared in the 1960s, with the variant ref. 6152/1, which marked a key evolution.
The idea was to create a watch that could be worn on the right wrist.
This innovation proved especially useful when paired with a compass or depth gauge, showing thoughtful consideration of diver needs.

Luminor 10 days

Long Power Reserve

Panerai brings to light a new mechanical value, enhancing the Manufacture heritage & know-how: a new timepiece with 10 Days of power reserve, enriching the Luminor Complicazioni line.
The long power reserve was introduced to meet the strict requirements of the commandos of the Italian Navy who had to rely on an instrument of complete and enduring reliability.
In the early 1960s, Panerai used a 16-ligne Angelus calibre, which would run for eight days.
The long power reserve is one of Panerai’s most distinctive features that significantly reduced the mis manipulation on the crown as the watch needed to rewound only one per week.

Luminor Quaranta

Luminor Quaranta

The Luminor Quaranta collection captures the aesthetic of the Luminor collection in a smaller case dimension, 40mm.
The new Luminor Quaranta features a discrete minuterie inspired by early 2000s watches, along with distinctive elements that define the Luminor line, such as the cushion-shaped case and the signature crown-protecting device with lever, “REG. T.M.”, registered trademark engraved upon it.

Luminor Crown

Crown protecting device

Patented by Panerai, the crown protecting device with lever has become a distinctive symbol of the brand with “REG. T.M.”, registered trademark engraved upon it.
Designed to ensure the case’s water resistance, it also prevents the crown from accidental shock, mishandling or breakage.

Luminor Signature

Signature Dial Design

In order to achieve the maximum legibility, the Luminor dial design is very minimalist with large Arabic numerals at the four cardinal points and hour markers filled with luminous material.
The small seconds indicator at 9 o’clock are an unmistakable element of many of Panerai’s watches, and in particular of the Luminor Marina, first born from commandos’ need to have their operations and watches synchronize perfectly.

Luminor Sandwich Dial

Sandwich dial

Invented by Panerai, the sandwich construction aims to achieve greater luminosity and the maximum legibility even in conditions of very low light.
Currently made of only two superimposed plates, creating the dial with a drilled upper plate superimposed on a solid lower one, it glows with a self-luminating material.

Luminor Luminosity

Luminosity

Radiomir, Panerai’s first luminous paint invention, was a radium-based substance for dial visibility even in poor light conditions.
It was replaced by the tritium-based, named Luminor, and today by Super-LumiNova®, luminous substance that absorbs light when exposed to it.
Compared to the standard Super-LumiNova®, it increases the duration of the dial’s legibility by around 35%, ensuring optimal levels of luminescence.
